--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.

Levels & Subjects I teach: GCSE: Chemistry A-level (IB): Chemistry Exam Board experience: I have personally tutored students completing AQA GCSE chemistry and A-level students doing OCR chemistry. I do however understand how to access and utilise specific exam board specifications for teaching so would be happy to help students achieve qualifications with any UK board (e.g AQA, Edexcel and OCR). Languages: Native English speaker SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) experience: I currently have no experience teaching children with additional needs and disabilities. Preferred student age groups: Both A-level and GCSE students About me: Hi there! my name is Joe and I currently studying for a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Sussex. Before joining the Sussex I obtained my masters degree in chemistry from the University of York graduating with first-class honours. I particularly enjoy spending time in the lab, with my work being focused on developing new chemical reactions. Outside of the lab, you can usually find me strategising over the chess board, exploring worlds in the latest video games or stopping my cats from causing chaos! As a tutor, I hope to make chemistry more accessible and hopefully enjoyable for students! Typically, my lessons consist of explaining concepts to students that they have been struggling with, followed by crucial problem-solving and exam practice to build confidence. Following each session/ topic, you can expect homework/ exam questions, which I will mark and provide crucial regular feedback. I am currently a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Sussex. My research is based within organic chemistry and is centred on developing new reactions of interest to the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining Sussex I completed MChem at the University of York graduating with First-class honours. Prior to joining the University of York, I attended Oakwood Park Grammar school where I completed both my A-level and GCSE qualifications the results of which are detailed below. A-Levels: A*A*AA (including EPQ) GCSEs: 7A*'s, 1A, 1B, 8, 7, 6 Since 2019 I have been a personal mentor for chemistry. Whilst still attending school I would meet weekly with 6 students on an individual basis to help prepare them for either their upcoming A-level or GCSE exams. The enjoyment gained from tutoring both at school and privately has led me to sign up for GoStudent where I hope to create an engaging and inspiring learning environment for pupils.

Hello! My name is Donna. I have lived and worked in different parts of England, Wales and Scotland at various times. I teach English and Humanities subjects remotely, and have done so for over 5 years; although I have worked within an educational environment for more than 15 years. Throughout this time it has been a real privilege to help students progress and reach their full potential. I personally love learning and reading, and get excited about exchanging new ideas and thoughts with my students. I hold a Bachelors Degree in teaching English Education, with TESOL as my major and Primary School Education as my minor. I am also finalising a BA History with Honours degree as a second degree through The Open University. I have always had a fascination with History, especially ancient history and archaeology. I believe that History is an important subject, as it not only created our past but will also help to define our future too. As a person I love animals, photography and outdoor activities, such as walking and kayaking. I enjoy travelling and have had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places throughout Egypt, Europe, and America. I am a qualified Rescue Scuba diver and have dived in some great areas. Wherever I go, I always try visit local historical sites and see local cultures I hold a Bachelors Degree in teaching English Education from the United States Institute of Language and Clerical Studies. I graduated Cum Laude (Distinction/Honours) with Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages as my Major, and Primary School Education as my Minor. I am also finalising a BA History with Honours degree as a second degree through The Open University. I have always had a fascination with History, especially ancient history and archaeology. I believe that History is an important subject, as it not only created our past but will also help to define our future too. I also have additional certifications in teaching English Grammar. Having worked within an educational environment for more than 15 years, I have taught English and Humanities subjects remotely for over 5 years. Throughout all of this time it has been privilege to help students progress, and obtain improved grades. I have supported KS1 to KS4 students in Humanities subjects; such as Geography and History, as well as Science, and English. Along with this I have assisted and guided students while they prepare for their Functional Skills assessments and exams. Further, I also support ESL students with exam preparation. In the classroom, my goal has always been to inspire students so that they can gain confidence in their subjects. My classes are always fun and engaging. Students learn at different paces and in different ways so often need time to understand what they are learning. Therefore, I patiently use a variety of teaching materials to consolidate concepts, ideas and dates. These are then reinforced through in-class practice. Mini class quizzes identify areas for additional support, and exam preparation help students feel comfortable and better prepared when it comes to taking their all important exams and tests.
