I adapt lesson style and content to your needs. We can go through specific subject areas, study skills and exam skills as required. I can vary how the material is delivered according to the situation and what works for you. I will teach and do lecture notes where appropriate, or take a more "coaching" style if that suits you and the situation better. We can even do more seminar/discussion style lessons as you become more comfortable with the material. At the heart of all of the above is making sure that we are working together so that you can achieve your goals. I know that you are probably already having lessons in school or at home, and my goal will be to complement those existing lessons rather than replacing them so that you can get the best value out of our time together. Specialisms: I am able to cover all aspects of the curriculum but I am particularly focused on skills. Psychology is a little different to other subjects covered at A-Level - not only do students have to learn a lot of information and produce it under exam conditions, but there is also a need to analyze and evaluate what has been learned so that they can write clearly, concisely and insightfully about that information. As well as teaching the syllabus content, I can help improve a student's thinking and writing skills so that they can go into exams with more confidence. I have also developed my coaching skills so work with students to help them improve their own problem-solving capabilities so that they can identify how they can study more effectively. A bit about me: I'm a PhD-qualified tutor who, over the course of my career, spent time working as a researcher, consultant and analyst across different industries. In all of those other roles, the part I enjoyed most was training, teaching and coaching people, so I am working towards making that my full-time career. Working in industry has taught me the importance of always turning up prepared and ready to work, using clear, prompt and honest communication and making sure that whoever I am working with knows that I am working in their best interests. The same will apply when we work together. In my spare time I love to play football and follow a lot of sport. I am learning to play guitar (very slowly) and enjoy listening to music, going to gigs when the opportunity arises. I love learning and am always doing some course or another - I'm currently studying to teach English as a foreign language and working towards accredited coach status. A common thread in all those roles was coaching and teaching colleagues and communicating complex information to a range of people who did not necessarily share the same background.

I am a student on a gap year, intending to study English Literature at University of Leeds. I hope to go into journalism or publishing. When I was doing my own GCSEs, although I thrived in essay subjects, I struggled with Science and Maths, which caused a dip in my confidence. I was mentored by 4 different students (for Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Maths) and their differing styles in supporting me have shaped how I approach tutoring today. - Offering online tutoring, including teaching of course content and essay structures - Offering essay/exam question marking and feedback - I have 2 years tutoring experience. I have tutored many different types of students, such as ones who struggle with essay structure and ones who have exam anxiety. -I achieved 9 GCSEs, grades 9-5, including 8 in English Language and 6 in Maths -I achieved 8 and A* in English Literature GCSE and A-Level, and A* in A-Level Geography. I achieved a B in A-Level Politics. -I have mentored students in English Language GCSE previously, for 2 years.
