Foundation Doctor recently graduated at Lancaster University Well-versed in engaging with teens and children through work experience in primary schools and volunteer work. Attained in GCSEs: As in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry Attained in A levels: A in Maths, A in Chemistry, A in Biology I aim to be engaging and relatable for all types of students as I understand the challenges of achieving top grades in today's current school system. I believe anyone can improve their grades with the right support and I aim to provide this in full. I am a UK-trained foundation year doctor with a strong academic foundation and proven ability to teach, explain, and mentor at multiple levels, having been a tutor for 6 years and a tutee since I was 9. I achieved 2A*s and 1 A at A-level in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, alongside9 A*s and 1 A at GCSE, reflecting consistent academic excellence and good understanding of core scientific concepts. This rigorous background allows me to break down complex ideas into clear, logical steps that are accessible to students. Through medical school and frontline NHS work, I have developed a practical, results-focused teaching style grounded in real understanding rather than rote learning. Daily clinical practice requires me to explain diagnoses, physiology, and management plans clearly to patients, nurses, and junior colleagues under time pressure—skills that translate directly into effective tutoring. I am particularly strong at identifying knowledge gaps, building confidence, and tailoring explanations to a student’s learning style. My approach emphasises clarity, exam relevance, and deep conceptual understanding, helping students not only achieve top grades but genuinely understand the material.

I am a first class Mathematics graduate with a PhD in Mathematics (Thesis title: Conditioning of the weak-constraint variational data assimilation problem for numerical weather prediction.). I have over 18 years of tuition and mentoring experience with mainly GCSE, A-level and University level students. I have 14 years experiences as a Scientists and post-doctoral researcher, having previously worked on various projects including; Predicting Solar winds via modelling Coronal mass ejections from the Sun for space weather, Mars weather research, and European Regional Reanalysis Uncertainty Quantification systems for weather forecasts. I take a small number of select students each year, and close my doors once I have this number (no more than 4 usually). I have 18+ years of experience tutoring and mentoring young adults and children ranging from 7-30 years old as a side venture while undertaking research projects simply because I love teaching! I am grateful for the privilege to contribute to the young minds of the future who have a thirst for knowledge. I have taught all exam boards for A levels and GCSE students, including OCR MEI. The levels I have taught range from 11+ (11 plus) candidates, those preparing for Maths challenges (all UKMTs, ie. Olympiad, IMC etc), GCSE, Cambridge STEP, A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and BSc. In addition to private tuition, I have also taught BSc students for 4 years while at University in lecture-supplementary class groups. The modules I am well versed are as follows: Theory of Data Assimilation Numerical Analysis Finite Difference Techniques (particularly for Meteorological weather models, Oceans, etc) Partial and Ordinary Differential Equations Bayesian Theory and Statistics Initial and Boundary Value Problems Vector Calculus Theory of Quantum Mechanics I provoke excellence and tap into the strengths of my students by challenging them and allowing them to naturally evolve in a way best suited to their psychological architecture. I also have a track record of guiding people along their natural grain, pushing them towards their natural strengths. I make an effort to make my lessons not only fun, but relatable to the real world. I create an interactive environment to keep them involved and make them feel that they are learning it themselves with me gently guiding their path. I have a Mathematics PhD, specialising in the technique used to predict the weather, known as Data Assimilation. I am an applied Mathematician. Data assimilation estimates the state of a system, given the observations and our uncertainties in data. I trained as a Mathematician prior to my PhD. I worked for 3 years in industry and realised that I wasn't being challenged. That led me back to do the PhD. I also enjoyed teaching, ensuring that I kept teaching kids and young adults (A level) from the days I was an undergraduate til today.

Hello ! I'm Sadie, 19 and currently completing an undergraduate degree in International Disaster Management and Humanitarian Response in Manchester. I am passionate about learning and enjoy helping others build confidence in their academic abilities. I completed my secondary education in 2025, where I focused on Geography, Religious Studies and Chemistry, and have continued to develop my knowledge and passion for geography through my university course. I have experience supporting younger students with exam preparation, having taken part in a peer coaching scheme for 2 years whilst at school. Through this, I have learned the importance of patience, structure and encouragement in helping students succeed. It also taught me how best to adapt my teaching style to suit individual learning needs and aim to create a supportive learning environment. In my free time I enjoy reading, travelling and hiking, especially since moving to Manchester where I am now right on the doorstep of the beautiful peak district ! I look forward to helping students achieve their goals and gain confidence in their studies. In 2023, I completed 10 GCSEs at the Cotswold School, Bourton on the Water. These include English Language and Literature (both grade 6), mathematics (grade 8), Biology (grade 7), chemistry (grade 8), physics (grade 9) and geography (grade 9). What is the 11+ exam?
The 11+ exam is an optional exam that is usually taken in the final year of primary school.
Your child will need to take the exam if you want them to attend a grammar school or a selective secondary school. Generally, children who sit the 11+ exam are academically gifted and get above average results.
What does the 11+ exam consist of?
The exam your child will take will depend on the school you are applying for. There are four different courses that can be covered:
When should you start 11+ exam revision?
Most of the course content will have been taught in Key Stage 2. If your child has confidently soared through everything, then a few months of revision and plenty of practice can be enough. If there are any problem areas it’s wise to start at least one year in advance.
What should I revise for the 11+ exam?
Revision strategies are tailored to the different exam courses as follows:
Are there 11+ exam online course books available?
You can order the books online and your tutor can advise you on which are the most appropriate. They can also provide a reading list that helps with the English component and verbal reasoning.
The benefits of an 11+ exam online tutor
An online tutor saves on travel time and there are no geographical limitations, meaning more options when it comes to finding the best fit for your child.

What levels can my child get tuition for?
We can help your child support with private 11+ tutoring as well as offering tuition for 11 levels. Choose from a whole host of subjects across the spectrum of school levels including 11+. Your child isn't tied into one subject or level with GoStudent. Your child may need support with 11+ at the moment but as these needs change we can also offer tuition across different levels.
How can your child benefit from 11+ tuition?
The main reason that parents often start to look for a 11+ tutor is to improve their child’s academic performance. It’s needless to say that tutoring will prepare your child for important exams and tests and address specific problem areas that they might have in a particular subject. Your child’s grades and understanding of the subject will improve when working with a tutor but there are also other benefits you might consider when deciding whether to opt for private 11+ tutoring. Tutoring encourages self-directed learning. This means that your child will learn to take the initiative in their schoolwork, with the result that they will feel less overwhelmed or frustrated with school and more in control of their own learning. They will also learn study skills that will help them in life when it comes to university and beyond. Whether it’s learning to overcome obstacles in their studies, losing the fear of asking questions or even working on their social skills.
