I have been a tutor since early 2020, when I started this career choice alongside working in the NHS as a mature student nurse at the University of Sheffield. I later went on to make this my full-time career, and in this time have worked with over 300 students, both long term and short term, of all different ages. I have worked both through agencies, and privately, with most of my students being referred through word of mouth. I work primarily with children in Year 5 and 6 in maths, and also children who are preparing for their Grammar School 11+ exam. However, I cover maths, English and science up to Year 8 level, 11+ exam preparation, English as a second language (for adults and children), and home schooling for primary school children. I am a member of MENSA, and I have achieved this because I work very routinely and am able to break things down into step-by-step techniques. These techniques are passed on through my tutoring, especially in maths, and I have had great feedback and results from this. I am very passionate about my career, as I love to educate others, and I believe it is so important to be a good role model and inspiration to young people, to drive them towards wanting to achieving their goals in life. At the end of each lesson I will encourage the students to summarize what was taught and also practise active recall in the follow up classes in order to solidify their understanding as well as boosting their memory. I will also include mock tests in their lessons which will mimic the actual exams to prepare them better for the same. In my school years, I have experience with helping/ tutoring my fellow students who needed extra help. It has been one of my most prized achievements to watch them pass their exams with my help and guidance. Going from that to having 45+ current students from all over UK, and over 900 lessons has increased my expertise.
