I have an effective way of explaining key concepts clearly to student’s in an engaging and collaborative manner. My patience and experience allow me to adapt easily to the student’s needs. I tailor each lesson to the student’s specific needs who often have varying learning paces and styles. I am supportive, students are encouraged to ask questions, not only during lessons but throughout the week. Motivating students is essential and part of the learning journey by building their confidence and exploring their understanding. My main aim is to get students ready for exams through using my own structured techniques I used during my GCSEs and A-levels which helped me obtain grade A and A*. I currently have a mixture of students, with varying abilities between year 4 and year 13. Hello! My name is Adeena, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Birmingham, where I studied Money, Banking, and Finance and achieved excellent results throughout my degree. I specialise in tutoring Maths and Science, but I also support students across a range of other subjects. At school, I achieved top grades in my GCSEs (all 7s, 8s and 9s) and went on to secure A* in Economics and Psychology, along with an A in Maths at A-level. I currently teach pupils from Year 4 to Year 13, tailoring my approach to suit their age, ability, and learning style. My aim is to make lessons enjoyable and easy to understand while building confidence and encouraging curiosity. I believe that with the right guidance and encouragement, every student can achieve their potential, and I love being part of that journey.

Levels & Subjects I teach: GCSE: Chemistry A-level (IB): Chemistry Exam Board experience: I have personally tutored students completing AQA GCSE chemistry and A-level students doing OCR chemistry. I do however understand how to access and utilise specific exam board specifications for teaching so would be happy to help students achieve qualifications with any UK board (e.g AQA, Edexcel and OCR). Languages: Native English speaker SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) experience: I currently have no experience teaching children with additional needs and disabilities. Preferred student age groups: Both A-level and GCSE students About me: Hi there! my name is Joe and I currently studying for a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Sussex. Before joining the Sussex I obtained my masters degree in chemistry from the University of York graduating with first-class honours. I particularly enjoy spending time in the lab, with my work being focused on developing new chemical reactions. Outside of the lab, you can usually find me strategising over the chess board, exploring worlds in the latest video games or stopping my cats from causing chaos! As a tutor, I hope to make chemistry more accessible and hopefully enjoyable for students! Typically, my lessons consist of explaining concepts to students that they have been struggling with, followed by crucial problem-solving and exam practice to build confidence. Following each session/ topic, you can expect homework/ exam questions, which I will mark and provide crucial regular feedback. I am currently a 3rd year PhD student at the University of Sussex. My research is based within organic chemistry and is centred on developing new reactions of interest to the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining Sussex I completed MChem at the University of York graduating with First-class honours. Prior to joining the University of York, I attended Oakwood Park Grammar school where I completed both my A-level and GCSE qualifications the results of which are detailed below. A-Levels: A*A*AA (including EPQ) GCSEs: 7A*'s, 1A, 1B, 8, 7, 6 Since 2019 I have been a personal mentor for chemistry. Whilst still attending school I would meet weekly with 6 students on an individual basis to help prepare them for either their upcoming A-level or GCSE exams. The enjoyment gained from tutoring both at school and privately has led me to sign up for GoStudent where I hope to create an engaging and inspiring learning environment for pupils.

I’m a medical student with a passion for teaching Biology, Science, and Maths at primary and GCSE levels. Almost 10 years in higher education, I’ve learned two key things: 1) Every student can succeed with the right teaching approach, and 2) Learning should be active, using techniques like spaced repetition and active recall. I focus on breaking down complex topics, using examples, mnemonics, and past papers to help students understand. I’m patient and adaptable, always ready to find new ways to explain concepts if needed. Outside of academics, I’m passionate about sports, gaming, and tech. I’ve coached an under-15 basketball team and teach guitar at my church, which helps me connect with students and build trust to boost their confidence and performance. I graduated from Glasgow in 2020 with a 2:1 in Biomedical Sciences and am currently pursuing a medical degree. My strong academic background in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English, and Geography enables me to offer well-rounded and insightful tutoring.

Teenagers can be awkward when meeting new people, GoStudent matched child with tutor perfectly based on interests and hobbies and this paid off with my child's enthusiasm for each lesson. GoStudent and tutor were helpful and understanding with every aspect of our journey with GoStudent, from choosing the right tutor to booking lessons that suited and on the occasion lessons needed changing. Couldn't recommend them enough!

How to find the best A-level tutor for your child

What are A-levels?

A-level stands for ‘advanced level’, which gives you a good indication of how difficult they can be. Students usually work towards achieving their A-levels over two years, taking three or four courses in the first year of Sixth Form and three in the second year.

Are A-levels difficult?

The shift from GCSE to A-levels is huge, and many students get caught out as they’re expecting a gentle jump.

A-levels require an increased level of independence. Some kids thrive on this newfound taste of adulthood whereas others take more time to adjust.

What is an A-level exam?

A-level exams take place at the end of each year, with the second-year exam testing content from both years.

Non-exam assessments only make up 20% or less of the final grade. That’s why nailing the exams is crucial.

Who can take A-level exams?

Requirements vary between different schools and colleges, but generally speaking your child will need:

  • A minimum of five GCSE subjects with a grade of 4–9 (previously C–A*)
  • The grade needs to be a minimum of 6 in the subjects they want to study

When will your child need help with their A-levels?

Many children benefit from tuition right from the start, as the jump from GCSEs is more like a vertical rock climb than a jog up a hill.

If your child struggles with planning their study time, their tutor can guide them on the best study practices and help create a learning schedule.

Why A-level private tutoring works

  • A private tutor is specialised. Our tutors have been through the process themselves and know their subjects inside out
  • Online tutoring saves travel time, and the majority of students feel more comfortable in their own home
  • Online tutoring also widens the net. You can literally take your pick of the top tutors available

When should my child start revising for their A-levels?

How much time is needed will depend upon how much effort your child put in during the year and how hard they found the content. Ideally, leave at least a few months for revision and longer if they are taking more than three A-levels.

How do you revise for A-levels?

Just reading over notes and books isn’t enough to solidify information in the brain. Your child will need a study timetable so they can ensure they have time to revise everything in detail.

Our dedicated A-level online tutors will provide homework and exam papers to practise on and will keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.

Book your free trial lesson today and breathe a sigh of relief. At GoStudent, we make sure that every one of our professional and experienced A-level tutors has been there, aced that, so your child is in safe hands.

Answering student's questions about A Levels level online lessons
