Hi! My name is Shaanya and I am a first year medical student at UCL. I have been a dedicated tutor for 1.5 years and have a strong passion for teaching science and mathematics and helping students build confidence in these subjects. My approach focuses on making complex ideas simple and engaging by breaking them down into clear, logical steps. I believe that every student can succeed in maths and science with the right guidance, patience, and practice. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. Rather than just memorising formulas, I help students understand the reasoning behind them so they can apply their knowledge to different problems. This approach helps develop critical thinking and long-term understanding. I have experience supporting students with topics such as algebra, geometry, physics, and basic chemistry and biology concepts. I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s learning style, whether that involves step-by-step problem solving, visual explanations, or real-world examples that make the subject more relatable. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop curiosity and confidence in science and maths. Seeing students progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic goals is what motivates me most as an educator. I attended Godolphin and Latymer Secondary School from years 7-13 which provided me with a strong foundation of education. Here I sat my GCSE's and scored 11 grade 9's. I also sat my A-Level's at this schools and achieved 3 A*'s and 1 A. My secondary school education provided a strong academic basis and developed my ability to support others in their learning. Throughout my studies, I consistently achieved good results and demonstrated a clear understanding of key subjects such as mathematics and science. I often assisted classmates by explaining complex topics in a clear and patient manner, helping them gain confidence and improve their understanding. This experience strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. It also confirmed my interest in tutoring and academic support. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I developed during my secondary education enabled me to be an effective, reliable, and supportive tutor. I am currently studying medicine at University College London and am in my first year. My first year of medical university education has helped me become a good tutor by strengthening both my knowledge and communication skills. Studying subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry requires deep understanding and regular revision, which allows me to explain complex concepts clearly to others. Medical training also encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and patience—qualities that are essential for effective tutoring. Through group discussions and collaborative learning, I have learned how to adapt explanations to different learning styles. As a result, I can support students confidently, break down difficult topics into simple steps, and help them build both understanding and confidence in their studies.

I am a Medical Student at University College London with a strong academic background, having achieved A/A* at A Level in Maths, Chemistry and Biology as well as completing an Extended Project Qualification. I have a passion for teaching and enjoy helping students fulfil their full potential and achieve their academic goals. I explain concepts in a clear and structured manner and always tailor to student's individual needs. Having recently completed my GCSE's and A levels myself, I am aware of effective revision techniques, common pitfalls as well as exam technique. I aim to focus on building student's confidence and helping them thrive in their academics, whilst developing their long-term love for learning. Currently I am studying Medicine at University College London. I completed my secondary education at North London Collegiate School for Girls, an institution renowned for its rigorous academic standards and emphasis on independent thinking. During my time there, I developed strong discipline, organisation, and resilience, learning to manage a demanding workload while maintaining high academic performance. I achieved two A* grades and two A grades at A Level, alongside ten grade 9s and one grade 8 at GCSE, demonstrating consistent dedication and perseverance throughout my studies. Excelling particularly in mathematics and the sciences, I strengthened my analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills through collaborative projects and presentations. My decision to pursue a degree in Medicine reflects my desire to apply these academic and interpersonal strengths within a field that blends scientific study with real-world impact. The course’s problem-based learning approach continues to refine my analytical and critical thinking abilities while reinforcing effective teamwork and adaptability. Moreover, the organisational and communication skills I have developed — combined with my ability to balance complex academic and personal responsibilities — are qualities I actively bring to my tutoring. They enable me to explain challenging concepts clearly, support students in managing their own workloads, and foster an encouraging and structured learning environment
