But it's during my time at Manchester that, thanks to my amazing lecturers, I got passionate about teaching and I decided to become a tutor. Apart from languages and literature, I love screenwriting, reading, playing volleyball and tennis. I have an MA and PhD in Classics and Ancient History from The University of Manchester, and a background in Italian, English and Russian. In 2015, I completed my BA in English and Russian in Italy. In 2017, I gained an MA in Classics and Ancient History (with distinction) from the University of Manchester and went on to apply for a PhD in Classics and Ancient History. During my MA and the first two years of my PhD, I was lucky enough to attend John Taylor’s classes in Latin and Classical Greek. Over the past five years, I have built my teaching experience both in the classroom and as a private tutor: I have successfully tutored students in Latin and Greek (both in Italy and in the UK) preparing for CE, GCSE, and A-Level examinations; I have taught Latin literature and Roman history to undergraduate students at Manchester University. I have also taught Latin and Classical Greek at the London Summer School in Classics (UCL), and Homeric Greek at the Summer School in Homer (UCL). In 2021, I was awarded an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. In 2022, I completed my PhD in Classics and Ancient History.

I am a retired teacher who loves teaching. Now I work a four day week tutoring online, helping students understand their course and prepare for the exams. It is encouraging to hear how my students get on and there is a satisfaction in knowing that I have helped them experience exam success. Working Monday to Thursday I have a timetable which I fit my students into. This makes me reliable which is an important factor in choosing a tutor. My sessions are usually early afternoon (2pm on) to early evening (7 or 8pm). To accommodate home schoolers I do offer Wednesday mornings (10am, 11am or 12pm) so if you are studying at home and would like an early session I offer Weds. SUBJECTS COVERED I cover Key Stage 3 and Broad General Education Science At GCSE I cover GCSE Biology GCSE Chemistry Dual Award Science/Trilogy (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) N4 & N5 Biology and Chemistry Within the Scottish system I am experienced with the SQA B.Sc. I have been a tutor since early 2020, when I started this career choice alongside working in the NHS as a mature student nurse at the University of Sheffield. I later went on to make this my full-time career, and in this time have worked with over 300 students, both long term and short term, of all different ages. I have worked both through agencies, and privately, with most of my students being referred through word of mouth. I work primarily with children in Year 5 and 6 in maths, and also children who are preparing for their Grammar School 11+ exam. However, I cover maths, English and science up to Year 8 level, 11+ exam preparation, English as a second language (for adults and children), and home schooling for primary school children. I am a member of MENSA, and I have achieved this because I work very routinely and am able to break things down into step-by-step techniques. These techniques are passed on through my tutoring, especially in maths, and I have had great feedback and results from this. I am very passionate about my career, as I love to educate others, and I believe it is so important to be a good role model and inspiration to young people, to drive them towards wanting to achieving their goals in life. My background is in healthcare, where I studied at the University of Sheffield (Adult Nursing BMedSci). I have also studied Diagnostic Radiography (BSc) at Sheffield Hallam University. I have an Access to Higher Education certificate in Health Sciences where I gained a qualification which included A-Level standard Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and AS-Level Physics.

I’ve had many years of experience volunteering with schools helping students excel in subjects that they find difficult. I’ve always had a passion for science leading me to have a career in microbiology so I know tutoring biology would be a strong suit. Hopefully, I can encourage more students, especially young women to pursue a future in STEM. I loved maths back in school and I do find myself still doing random mathematical questions as I love the subject. I was my favourite back in school. My teacher made English enjoyable and allowed me to have creative responsibilities, making me want to pass that on to the next generation. Apart from my educational background, I enjoy art, allowing me to be more creative and express myself in a different light. But apart from my academics, Im very creative and enjoy doing lots of artistic hobbies such as painting and drawing. My most remarkable talent is drawing landscapes. I also am a big movie buff so hopefully, I can if I have that in common with a student I use that to tailor lessons for them. BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences Primary: Maths, English, Sciences, 11+ exam, and entrance GCSE: Maths, English Literature, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, History Exam Board Experience: AQA, OCR, Edexcel, 11+, SJT Student Age: Upper Primary (Year 5-6) and Secondary (GCSE)

Lower level- Maths, biology and chemistry GCSE- Maths, biology and chemistry A-level- Biology and Chemistry About me: I am in my final year studying Biochemistry at University of Birmingham and I will be attending Imperial College London in September to continue my studies toward a masters degree in applied biosciences and biotechnology. I am a very ambitious student always eager to learn and share my knowledge with others. Over the years I have built up many skills that have enabled me to become a good tutor. I am a positive person, very organised with an in depth knowledge about my subjects. I am adaptable and can cater to all students of all levels with previous experience in tutoring my friends and family over the years. My sister is currently doing GCSE in all three subjects so I am aware about the exam curriculums and have a lot of practice with exam style questions. I also enjoy to spend time with children as I previously used to volunteer for my local scout association where I would teach the children new skills in order to acquire their badges.

I’m Luci, a recent maths graduate from the University of Oxford. I’ve been tutoring all ages and abilities for over five years, ranging from helping secondary school students to adjust to their pre-GCSE workload, to A level, admissions tests and interview practice for 16 to 18 year olds. I tutor primary school, GCSE and A Level maths. I have experience with children hoping to increase their grade to a high pass, but have also worked on summer schools with students aiming to achieve top A level grades and study maths degrees at prestigious universities. After working as a teacher in Spain on a two month summer school, I really hope to work as a maths teacher abroad in the future! I’m an enthusiastic and approachable tutor with a passion for learning. Please note that I am currently only taking on A-level mathematics students I’m currently working towards a TESOL qualification, enabling me to teach all around the world. As part of this I completed an internship teaching over a 2 month programme in Spain. I’ve worked as an intern for 3 months with the University of Oxford, tutoring and helping students most negatively impacted by the pandemic with their university applications, and encouraging children of all backgrounds to progress to higher education.

I am an engineering university student with a diverse educational background from different countries. Owing to my diverse experience, I am able to teach using varied curricula, adopt different systems, and incorporate appropriate approaches to meet the needs of the students. I am still a student, so I have first-hand experience with what students require from a student's perspective. Although I have around 3 years of experience working as a part-time tutor, both online and physical, I have been tutoring as a volunteer for about 8 years now. I have worked with students from different parts of the world of all levels and ages. Aside from teaching as a career, I am passionate about it because I aspire that "learning should be fun." I teach because I love it, because I enjoy it, and because I want to help the student improve in the most amusing way possible. As the saying goes "if you do what you love, you will do it with passion," and I am here to help the students realize that they love learning. I began my lower-level studies in Tanzania (my home country), where I picked up the British educational system. I later received a scholarship to study abroad as an exchange student, moved to the US to complete part of my high school there, and then returned to Tanzania to finish my A-levels. At this point, starting with the modest volunteer programs I was taking part in in Tanzania, this is when I first learned about teaching. I was awarded another scholarship to Turkey to start my bachelor's in engineering. And this is when I started teaching as a part-time profession, taking it to the next level. I currently live in Lithuania as an Erasmus student and am constantly exploring new adventures and experiences as a teacher through different youth programs and volunteer camps. Likewise, I can't wait to embark on a new journey with you.

My son's experience with Yi-Ju is excellent. Yi-Ju understands his needs, gaps, preferences and strenghts. She challenges him at a comfortable level. Doing French lessons, for us as parents was important to consolidate French learning between the sessions as well. Yi-Ju has her own toolbox with plenty of resources and extra worksheets or games. It does not seem as homework at all and my son enjoys it. In a short time David went from.level 1 books to level 3. He moved at school from core French to French Immersion. We recommend Yi-Ju to other parents. Also, the GoStudent coordinator is very supportive and asked us for feedback or opened the door for addressing any issues. IT team is willing to help as well and prompt at your needs.
