I am currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey. I can teach up to A-Level Maths. I have exam board experience for Edexcel GCSE Maths and OCR B MEI A-Level Maths. I am fluent in both English and Tamil. I am looking to teach anyone of all ages! I am only familiar with the English Curriculum (OCR, Edexcel, and AQA). I am currently a first year Economics student at the University of Warwick. I have always enjoyed maths and while A-Level economics was a lot of fun and extremely interesting especially during the pandemic, it is taking some time to enjoy studying the discipline at a university level. When I’m not stuck studying or doing some sort of society work I love to go for a run(on the treadmill though), re read any one of Jane Austen’s book or go for long walks with a friend. I am Jad , I graduated as a general science student. I am a mechanical engineering graduated from the best engineering university in my country. I graduated with honor as rank #1. In my free time I like to go hiking, camping, biking, swimming, running, among others, such hobbies have taught me to admire the beauty of the world. And I also enjoy playing guitar, wood crafting and solving puzzles which have improved my way of thinking, my patience and my positivity . Hi! My name's Rebecca, and I am a soon-to-be PhD Student, specialising in computational chemistry. I have just finished an integrated master's in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, meaning I've studied Physics and Chemistry at a university level. I have experience supporting university admissions, where I volunteered on open days, school visits, and summer schools throughout my undergraduate studies. A big part of this was small group teaching of year 12s, where we started at A-level content and developed to first-year undergraduate topics. I have also worked as a mentor on Cambridge's STEM SMART programme for Year 12 students. This widening participation program focused on pastoral support for students from low-income backgrounds looking to apply to top universities in the STEM subjects. I am a tutor because I love teaching just as much as I love science, but also because the current A-level system doesn't show you how valuable the knowledge you learn is to the field. At A-level, I studied Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, which is where I realised my real passion lay in the physical sciences. I went on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge, a broad and rigorous course that allowed me to explore a wide range of scientific subjects before specialising. I took Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Applied Maths in my first year. In second year, I continued with Chemistry and also studied the History and Philosophy of Science (a bit of a wildcard choice, but one I found genuinely fascinating). I eventually specialised in Chemistry, focusing mainly on theoretical and quantum chemistry, a field that merges the logical structure of physics with the molecular insight of chemistry. I graduated with a 2.1 in my undergraduate degree and decided to stay on for a fourth year to complete my integrated Master’s. My final-year research was in computational chemistry, where I simulated how proteins behave under different conditions. This work sat at the interface of chemistry, physics, and biology, allowing me to apply concepts from across the sciences. It was fully computer-based (a massive plus - I’ve never been a fan of lab work!) and I was proud to finish the year with a First. I loved the experience so much that I wasn’t quite ready to leave academia. I’m now about to begin a PhD at King’s College London, researching novel bio-based materials (ideally with minimal time spent in the lab)! My undergraduate journey wasn’t without challenges. Cambridge is tough, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia after receiving unexpectedly low marks in my first-year exams. My performance steadily improved as I learned how to work with my learning style. I’ve always been a visual and hands-on learner, which likely explains why Chemistry felt so natural to me. My academic ups and downs have deeply influenced how I approach tutoring - I understand what it’s like to struggle despite working hard, and empathy helps me support my students more effectively. I believe that learning should be about building accurate understanding, not just memorising facts, and I strive to make that a reality in every session I teach.
