I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of Nottingham and hold a First Class Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree. I have been tutoring since my early high school years in a range of subjects and for a range of different academic abilities. My education ethos is to foster an enjoyment of understanding and success will follow. In terms of hobbies I'm a massive movie fan – that's basically how I spend 90% of my free time. I also really enjoy taking photos when I can and it doesn't take much for me to get stuck into a good book. I am in my penultimate year of Medical School at the University of Nottingham and hold a First Class Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree. In high school I took physics, chemistry, mathematics, history, biology, English and AP mathematics. I tutored peers and younger grades throughout high school in all these subjects. I achieved distinctions in all core subjects. I also have a B1 Certification in German, which I studied at the Goëthe Institut.

I am a third-year Mathematics and Physics student at The University of Manchester. During my school years, I have been looking for experiences that could develop me as a human being and this is how I came across tutoring. My first such opportunity tutoring them in the subjects they had difficulty with by explaining core concepts, which helped me develop patience and adaptability. Working with children was not without its hurdles, but I used all my abilities to stir their interest. What was truly rewarding were their smiles and the strong bond that we created. I cherished every single moment with the children, especially the instant they understood the exercises. My experience attests to my ability to tutor young people in the subject of Mathematics. I want to be a tutor because I feel that through this I can change things, starting with the young generation: I can help them discover a passion for Mathematics, I can cheer them up whenever they need help and I can be their friendly and trustful tutor when they do not know how to solve a problem. At the moment I am teaching GCSE students and I am familiar with most exam boards. My three-year experience helps me assess quickly the level of every student and this leads to a quick lesson plan for a successful exam.

I'm literally so overjoyed to have had the amazing opportunity to join GoStudent as a tutor back in April 2023 and I just wanted to elaborate further on my academic and in addition extracurricular skills which have equipped me greatly to be able to shine a light on my own capabilities as well as my weaknesses at this time! I think that I have developed my communication skills via group work with the rest of the tutors and programme coordinators and also have had the privilege to really just go into further detail about what actually makes me tick and I really appreciate how supportive everyone has been in terms of my development and progress thus far. But how about he excitement of sharing a wonderful session with my tutees? We usually discuss the relevance of outside-of-the-box thinking and how phenomenal it is when the student and their loved ones get to choose what will happen during the lesson itself and also set the standards regarding the content to be covered so the sessions are usually quite fun and engaging to be honest! :-) I really enjoyed my time at the UCL School of Pharmacy while studying for the MPharm degree and I am just waiting to be able to sit some deferred final year exams and graduate hopefully quite soon following a recent gap year actually. I did graduate with a first in MSci in Pharmaceutical Studies back in October 2022. Now I am just in the process of applying for medical school and tend to spend my free time on either reading novels, playing the keyboard or making artsy-craftsy notes which will hopefully contribute towards a revision blog that I am starting to establish. I also like going for walks and exploring all sorts of new exciting places within London. I did of course go to Exeter medical school back in 2017 and left (for personal reasons such as the PBL structure of the course) before joining UCL in 2018. This means I am quite agile when it comes to things like discussing interview techniques and CV requirements if needed for individual students. I also tend to motivate my tutees to stay and CONTINUE with what they are doing rather than back away, especially in the face of challenges! This is because I myself wish I hadn't left medicine and now am re-applying so it indicates my perseverence and understanding of the new and surprising aspects of the course! ;)

Lower level: Mathematics GCSE: Mathematics and Statistics A Level: Mathematics and Statistics Higher Level: Mathematics and Statistics Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Languages: English (native speaker) Preferred student age group: Any Tutoring Experience: I have been a tutor with GoStudent since March 2022 and have tutored students with a variety of different skill levels. One student was able to pass his foundation paper after multiple attempts. Another student did so well ina school test that he moved up from doing the foundation paper to the higher paper and one other student recieved the required level for his first choice of university. About you: I'm a PhD graduate and have experience teaching at a wide range of ages. I have a keen interest in films and play bridge. I have even played bridge for England. I have both a Masters degree and PhD from the University of Sheffield in mathematics. While at university I assisted in running tutorials for undergraduate students. As an assistant demonstrator I led classes through an example question at the front while encouraging them to take part in working through the problem together. I also answered any questions they may have had individually. For certain modules I marked the students’ homework.
