I'm a qualified teacher with a First Class degree in Business Economics and a Masters in Management. With over 1,100 online tutoring sessions under my belt, I've helped countless students achieve their academic goals. My adaptable approach and real-world experience ensure that you get the most out of every lesson. My experience working in UK secondary schools and as an examiner gives me a unique understanding of the curriculum and assessment process. I tailor my lessons to each student's individual needs, using real-world examples to make learning engaging and effective. As a former secondary school teacher, I understand the unique challenges students face. My passion for helping others succeed drives me to provide personalised support and tailored learning strategies. With a strong track record of student success, I'm committed to helping you reach your full potential. My usual tutoring hours are Monday to Thursday 10am - 6:30pm and occasional Saturday mornings (10am to 12 noon). Unfortunately I cannot hold sessions outside of these hours due to other work commitments. Exam Boards: Business Studies: AQA, Edexcel, Eduquas, WJEC. Economics: AQA, OCR, Edexcel, Eduquas, WJEC. Language: English (Mother Tongue) My name is Megan and I specialise in Business Studies and Economics tutoring. I completed my A Levels in 2014 in Business Studies, Economics and Accounting before going on to complete a Business Economics degree, I was awarded a First Class Degree with Honours. I completed my Masters Degree in Management and following this I trained to be a teacher, teaching Business Studies and Economics to students aged 14-18 in state secondary schools before making the move to tutoring. I use a variety of methods when delivering lessons to students, such as the use of verbal questioning, written questions, modelling answers and knowledge checks. This helps students to develop their knowledge and put this knowledge into practice. I also carry out a detailed analysis of students needs and requirements in the trial session or first session to give me a good understanding of where the focus needs to be. I am also an examiner and this has given me a great insight into how exams are marked and a good understanding of what is required from students.

I would describe my teaching style as engaging and adaptable I maintain an open stance towards feedback and novel ideas. I encourage my students to think beyond conventional boundaries, nurturing their unique style and thought paradigm. I strive to push them to present convincing and innovative points. However, I make lessons very practical; there is a science behind English and I can teach anybody how to improve because I know that. I am passionate about English because I believe it is an evergreen discipline. I love the theories and conversations that English illuminates and evokes in all its forms. Studying English language and literature was truly inspiring for me. My A level studies encompassed a multi-modal exploration, including speeches, plays, books, diaries, interviews, poems, comics, and blogs. This comprehensive exploration challenged me to grasp the nuanced aspects of communication, persuasion and emotion. Moreover, it granted me the opportunity to glean insights from numerous authors representing diverse cultural and historical backgrounds. Hence, I am a better communicator and empathetic person which shines through my teaching. Subjects Taught: English language and literature A level English language/literature Gcse Other comments: I love business and sports! I pursued my undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham from September 2020 to July 2023, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Economics with International Economics. Prior to that, I completed my A-Levels at King Edward VI Five Ways School in Birmingham from August 2018 to July 2020, achieving outstanding grades of A*A*A in Mathematics, English Language and Literature and Economics respectively. My academic journey began at King Edward VI Aston Birmingham, where I completed my GCSEs from September 2016 to July 2018, earning notable results including 4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, and 2 grade 7s, with grade 9 distinctions in English Language

Hi! My son started physics with his tutor Conor a month ago. I can tell you that I am happy about this decision as Alex, my son, has already better scores at physics tests at school. Conor is very helpful even outside tuition session and very patient. I noticed that if my son doesn’t understand something or is tired, Conor finds another way to make him understand giving him logical examples. When my son is happy, I am happy so Thank You Conor for being my son tutor and Thank you Alex Brown for choosing Conor for my Alex. I wish you Merry Christmas and a lot of snow!

The tutor has given feedback promptly. Also, she has been maintaining communication with the tutee on daily/weekly basis. The concerns and suggestion raised by me as a parent were acknowledged and promised to tailor the next sessions accordingly. Although the tutor is pursuing university studies, the time with tutee has been managed really well. I wish the same tutor to support my GCSE son for this year (2023-24).

My daughter made all the arrangements and interacted with the tutors then I got notifications of dates and times of sessions. My daughter was able to message the tutors before a session to say which topics she'd like covered in the upcoming session. Very useful.

My son grades in French, a core subject has improved since Oliver has started tutoring him. He is comfortable with his tutor and is even practising the language on his own. He sees his tutor as a mentor, is motivated to learn and speak French. Quote from my son " I can't wait to be able to speak French fluently!".

What is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme?
The IB Diploma is a two-year educational programme for students aged 16 to 19. It encourages curiosity about the world and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as providing an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education.
It aims not only to develop students’ knowledge in a range of subjects and disciplines, but helps them become confident, self-motivated and resilient global citizens.
The programme is composed of six academic subject groups along with the Diploma Programme (DP) Core. The DP Core requires students to reflect on the nature of knowledge in a course called Theory of Knowledge (ToK), participate in independent research to produce an Extended Essay (EE), and engage in extracurricular activities related to Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
What subjects are covered in the IB Diploma Programme?
Subjects are offered at a Standard and Higher Level. Students must pass at least three subjects at Higher Level and a total of six from the following list:
Each subject is scored from 1-7, and up to 3 additional points may be awarded for the ToK essay and the EE. A minimum of 24 points is required to pass, with 45 points the maximum that can be achieved. The CAS does not count towards the final score but must be completed to earn the diploma.
In general, a score of 30 points or higher is considered enough to gain admission to many universities, with more selective universities requiring a score of 40 or higher.
How to get good results in the IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma is a rigorous academic programme which many students find challenging, which can lead to overwhelm, a loss of motivation and procrastination.
It’s vital to start early when it comes to preparing for the exams. Revising should ideally be done in short amounts daily and balanced across multiple subjects. Completing past papers will familiarise you with the types of questions asked and improve your exam technique.
Using an IB tutor is a sure path to success as they can teach effective learning strategies, help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, and work with you to develop a realistic and achievable study schedule that will keep you on track throughout the year.
GoStudent has a range of IB tutors that have direct experience in teaching the curriculum and understand the assessment methods. They have a special focus on the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay and the Extended Essay, teaching the necessary skills and strategies to succeed in both as well as help across different subjects within the level.
