I am an English Literature graduate from the University of Birmingham, who is currently studying a Masters degree in Philosophy. I really enjoy English and Philosophy as they can be a really fun subjects to learn as well as teach. I found that at school my teachers made the subjects enjoyable, so much so that I got a grade 9 in my English Literature GCSE and a grade 8 in English Language as well as a grade A* in my Religious Studies A-level and a 2:1 in my English Literature degree. Therefore, I aim to help students improve their grades by making learning enjoyable because when something is difficult to learn it can be difficult to want to understand and persevere. As a tutor, it is important to understand areas of struggle and help to adapt them in a way that is more accessible to the student. I have achieved 10 GCSEs, in which I received: 1 Grade 9 in English Literature, 4 Grade 8’s (1 Grade 8 being in English Language), 3 Grade 7’s and 2 Grade 6’s. I have also achieved 3 A-levels and received: an A* in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, an A in English Literature and a B in German. I graduated from the University of Birmingham as an undergraduate English Literature student with a 2:1 Honours and have recently graduated with a MSc in Philosophy, Mental Health, and Psychology.

Hi, I’m Jace Steele, an enthusiastic and dedicated math teacher who believes that mathematics should be understood, appreciated, and enjoyed. I’m passionate about helping students discover that math is more than just numbers and formulas. For me, it’s about logic, patterns, and real-life problem-solving. I design my lessons to be interactive and engaging, using relatable examples and practical applications so students can see how math connects to their everyday lives. My goal is not just to help them get the right answers, but to build their confidence, strengthen their critical thinking skills, and develop a positive mindset toward learning. As a teacher, I value patience, clarity, and encouragement. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching approach to match their pace and learning style. Whether in a classroom setting or during one-on-one sessions, I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes—because that’s where real growth truly happens. Outside the classroom, I enjoy solving Rubik’s Cube puzzles and playing chess. These activities sharpen my analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills—qualities that I bring into my teaching every day. I strongly believe that with the right guidance, consistent practice, and the right mindset, every student can succeed in mathematics—and I’m here to guide them every step of the way. I graduated with a degree in Mathematics Education, where I built a strong foundation in mathematical theories, effective teaching strategies, and classroom management techniques. My academic training prepared me to design structured yet engaging lessons, differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles, and create a positive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to succeed. Over the past seven years of teaching experience, I have continuously refined these skills in both classroom and online settings. This experience has strengthened my ability to simplify complex concepts, manage different learner needs, and adapt my approach to ensure that each student truly understands the material. Through years of hands-on practice, I’ve learned how to balance academic rigor with encouragement, helping students build not only competence in mathematics but also confidence in their abilities. Combining my formal education with seven years of real-world teaching experience, I am committed to delivering lessons that are clear, engaging, and impactful—empowering every student to reach their full potential in mathematics.

📘 Economics Tutor Introduction Hi, I’m Jay, an Economics graduate from The Open University, specialising in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and applied economics. I offer tutoring for students at GCSE, A-Level, and university level, with hands-on experience across major exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. My lessons are structured, engaging, and always tailored to the individual needs of each student. I typically begin with a quick recap to reinforce past learning, then move into clear explanations of new concepts, followed by interactive examples, discussions, and exam-style practice questions. I also tie in current economic events and trends to help students see how theory applies in the real world — making lessons more relevant, thought-provoking, and practical. I enjoy tutoring because I’m passionate about making economics understandable and accessible. What motivates me most is seeing students gain confidence, improve their grades, and begin to genuinely enjoy a subject they may have once found difficult or intimidating. Helping them unlock their potential and develop a stronger academic mindset is incredibly rewarding. My teaching style is friendly, patient, and focused on building long-term understanding, not just short-term results. I encourage active participation, independent thinking, and a safe space to ask questions and explore ideas without fear of being wrong. Whether you’re preparing for important exams, aiming for top grades, or just looking to improve your understanding, I’m here to help you succeed — and maybe even learn to love economics along the way. I hold a degree in Economics from The Open University and several industry-recognised certifications in Data Analysis. What is Key Stage 1?
Key Stage 1 (KS1) is the name given to Year 1 and Year 2 at primary schools, when pupils are aged between 5 and 7. It sets out which subjects must be taught as part of the national curriculum, which is followed by state schools.
Your child may be tested on what they have learned at the end of KS1. These assessments are known as SATs (which stands for ‘Standardised Assessment Tests’). They are not pass/fail tests but simply provide an indication of your child’s progress. It is not compulsory for schools to take the SATs in KS1.
What are the main subjects studied at Key Stage 1?
The KS1 curriculum is designed to introduce children to the core subjects they will learn throughout their school career.
The subjects are:
Religious Education (RE) is also taught, but parents can choose for their children to opt out of some or all the lessons. Schools usually also teach Personal, Social and Health Dducation (PSHE), citizenship and modern foreign languages.
How is Key Stage 1 assessed?
Children undertake a phonics screening check at the end of Year 1, which evaluates their reading and pronunciation skills.
Schools who do not take the SATs will use their own assessment systems to track the progress children in their school are making.
If your school takes the SATs, the subjects are:
The focus of Key Stage 1
KS1 is where a child begins to develop their skills and understanding in the key subjects taught in the curriculum.
Speaking, reading and writing are considered core skills as mastery of the English language is central to developing an understanding in all subjects.
In KS1 maths, children to begin to understand mathematical language, understand the fundamentals and begin to solve problems by applying this knowledge.
In addition, teaching children about healthy habits and different belief systems can help them become well-rounded individuals who understand the world around them.
How to choose a Key Stage 1 tutor
Children are all different and progress at different rates. Some will need extra support in building core skills or improving confidence, and others may need more of a challenge to keep them engaged. Either way, lessons need to be personalised to meet their individual needs.
It’s also important to choose a tutor with experience in the KS1 curriculum and who understands how important it is to make learning fun.
GoStudent’s tutors are highly qualified and offer an interactive and personalised learning experience. Our online sessions can be scheduled for a time that suits you, and you will receive regular updates on your child’s progress.
Tutoring will give your child a strong foundation in the key concepts will set them up to succeed in learning, not only at KS2 but throughout their school career.
