Hey I am Si Yeun! I'm a PhD student researching heterogeneous catalysts, and I have 1 year of experience tutoring Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics for GCSE and below students. Having had some tutoring myself during my GCSE period, I know how much of a nerve-wracking experience it is for both students and parents. With my lessons focusing on teaching based on the students' learning style, I hope to put those nerves at ease. Below is the list of subjects I teach and at which level. KS1/2/3: Mathematics, Science GCSE (Including IGCSE): Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics Current PhD student researching new catalysts for acetylene hydrogenation. My MSc achieved a First (1st) class classification in Materials for Energy and Environment at UCL, where I specialised in the interference of tyre wear particles with atmospheric ice nucleation. Obtained an upper second (2.1) classification for my BSc in Chemistry at Cardiff University. While my speciality is Chemistry on paper, maths and physics are integral to what I do in my current and previous research.

I am a fully qualified Maths teacher, and have spent the last five years working in schools teaching Maths to students aged 11-18. I have spent the last two years as Assistant Curriculum Leader for Maths at a secondary school / sixth form in East London. Before teaching, I studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, from which I graduated in 2019. I have experience tutoring Maths at KS3, GCSE and A-Level, and tutoring Economics at GCSE and A-Level. Furthermore, I am experienced in working with both high and low attaining students, with SEND students, and with those students that require special adjustments. I have experience tutoring across all exam boards, but with particular experience with Edexcel. I have extensive experience with preparing students for their GCSE and A-Level examinations, both in schools and through private tuition, and have helped numerous students to reach their full potential and achieve their aims, whether that be a Grade 4 or a Grade 9. My approach to teaching is knowledge-based, emphasising teacher-led instruction and modelled examples followed by independent student practice, with additional support when required. My approach towards my students is firm but caring: I aim to cultivate a calm, consistent and productive atmosphere, where students feel happy, safe, and comfortable to ask for any support that they might need. I love stories and music. This is why I did an English and Music degree, which I really enjoyed. Reading and writing are such essential and valuable skills, so this, along with my love of stories is why I teach English. I think the Harry Potter books are fantastic. My favourite Shakespeare play is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as I love the magic of the forest and the fun of the character Puck. I have also studied Ancient Greek. This proved to be a fascinating language; I found it interesting to learn where so many modern words stem from. I used to run my own drama groups; I believe in the importance of self expression and the confidence that this can bring to people. I have been a tour guide, which was great fun. It was an excellent opportunity to see many interesting sites, whilst meeting many wonderful people. I have worked with a wide range of students over the years and believe in the potential of every individual. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano. I try to write songs with my partner, who is a much better musician than me. It usually ends up with me writing the lyrics and him writing the music! I also enjoy sailing, writing stories and walking my crazy puppy; she is a mix of sheepdogs, so all she wants to do is round everyone up, including the cat! BA (Hons) Open (English and Music) First-class Honours. A-levels: English and Sociology GCSEs: English Literature and Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Sociology and Music. BTEC Diploma: Music and Drama Take 10 for play (play worker certificate) Current studies: The 1st year of a Maths and Physics BSc with the Open University

Hi, my name is Ruby. I’m currently a third year at Durham University, where I am studying Theology. I provide one-to-one tutoring in GCSE and A-Level Biology and History, and have two years of tutoring experience. Additionally, I have experience with mature students, if you are an adult looking to achieve GCSE or A-Level qualifications. I am pleased to say that all of my students have passed, achieving Grades 4/5 (C) and above in the academic years 2023-24 and 2024-25! I have developed a flexible teaching style that can cater to your/your child’s learning needs. I focus my teaching around two points: reinforcing content and refining exam technique. I will usually dedicate half of every lesson to each, depending on the student’s needs. Included in the price of a lesson are custom-made revision resources, as well as any marking outside of lesson time. I am also happy to read over previous mock exam papers to establish any gaps in their knowledge. I also have experience working at an international summer school, where I interacted with children of many different nationalities, with varying levels of English. Not all the children were confident when speaking English, and I learned to adapt to their levels of understanding when communicating with them. I aim to do the same with my students, and I love to see their confidence grow when their knowledge in a topic becomes secure! Ultimately, I aim to be a dedicated and engaging tutor, and make the exam process as easy as possible for you/your child. I want to inspire confidence in my students and help them to achieve grades that they are proud of on results day! In my spare time, I like to write, bake and get involved in technical theatre (where I specialise in lighting) in university productions. GCSE grades: Biology - 9 History - 9 A-Level grades: Biology - A Modern History - A Levels and subjects I teach: GCSE: Biology, History A-Level: Biology, History Exam board experience: AQA (GCSE Biology, A-Level History and Biology), Edexcel (GCSE History) Languages: English, Spanish (basic knowledge) Preferred student age group: GCSE or A-level

Hi, I’m Harrison; I look forward to working with you! I hold a first class degree in English Literature, going on to study for an MA in public policy at the university of York. I achieved top marks at gcse (A*) and achieved a B in English literature and History at A-Level. That’s the academics out of the way, in terms of experience, I have tutored since 2020. I was volunteering with an educational charity called action tutoring, providing English and History tuition to groups of 1-3. These were children mainly on the borderline of a pass, looking to achieve passing and even top grades (including 8/9s)I have a good track record of tangible outcomes and was responsible for their progress throughout, keeping records of tests, progression and revision structure.. Some of these students also had significant challenges at home and at school, and so I developed a strong sense of resilience and motivation for education. A few students were also neurodivergent, and so I gained a appreciation and understanding of neurodivergence in education. Since then, I have kept tutoring throughout my university education and hope to do it as I study for my masters degree. All in all that's about 4 years experience! I pride myself on keeping my lessons personal and supportive, and will always ask for suggestions to improve and include the student in the direction of study. I enjoy politics, history, sci-fi and gaming! I hope that sounds convincing, and if so, I look forward to working with you! : ) I hold a B.A (hons) English Literature degree, awarded first class. My degree focused on a vast array of texts and study, and allowed me to have a wider skillset in order to tutor effectively. I am also studying for an MA in Public Policy at the University of York.

English GCSE - year 10&11 only Russian all levels I am an enthusiastic and devoted tutor. I am aware of different challenges that students face and I develop different strategies to help them to overcome them. There isn’t always an opportunity for students to ask questions and receive a lot of personal attention in the school classrooms, so I always encourage students to explain to me what they struggle with the most and which areas make the least sense, so they don’t go back to their school lessons still feeling confused and worried that they don’t understand something. In addition, I encourage them to think and analyse, I try to avoid giving answers, instead I help students find them themselves. I believe it’s such an important life skill. I consider each student’s strengths and weaknesses. I always strive to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in my online classroom. I build my relationship with everyone on mutual respect and trust. I prefer when students see me as a mentor, rather than a teacher, and I call our meetings “sessions”, rather than “lessons”. Hi I'm Katie. In my free time I like to be with my friends, as well as social events within university, such as out chem eng society! Also, I enjoy cooking and baking and coming up with new recipes and flavours, as well as sharing this to my friends; especially cakes! I'm currently a masters student at the University Of Birmingham studying chemical engineering. I have a strong passion for both chemistry and maths and i believe these supply the fundamentals for understanding how the world works and can be applied to any real life concept or problem. At school I achieved grade 9 and 8 in Maths and chemistry in GCSE, to then be followed by AA at A level. I also studied physics at a level where i achieved a grade B. I have been a tutor with go student for 5 years. I previously tutored younger students during my time at secondary school, this gave me an insight into the concepts that are often misunderstood and ways I can use my knowledge to overcome this, and i now have over two years of online tutoring experience. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm to students to help them progress within their subjects and ultimately make learning be engaging and fun.
