Hi, I'm Ka. Originally, I come from Macau, China. I have lived abroad in the Netherlands, the UK, and Spain. Throughout my adventures, I have also embraced the role of a teacher for over 5 years. It has been a rewarding and fulfilling journey, contributing to the growth and education of others. These diverse experiences have shaped me into the person I am today, fostering a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and a commitment to lifelong learning I graduated with first-class honors from Business School in the Netherlands. Following my academic achievement, I embarked on a fulfilling career journey, serving as a teacher assistant and tutor for over 5 years in London. During this time, I gained invaluable experience in educational support, curriculum development, and student mentorship, contributing to the academic success and personal growth of many students.

I have experience teaching in both primary and secondary schools. I feel I am able to inspire and encourage children of all levels to reach their full potential. 11 plus( mainly English), private school exam preparation, essay writing, ESL are among tuition experiences I have had in the past. For young students I plan my lesson with lots of games. They enjoy learning via playing. Whereas for adult students I plan tailored lessons according their targets, interests and level. I am positive, encouraging, approachable person. Reading, running and traveling are among long list of my hobbies and interests. I am patient and always listen to my students needs and constantly monitor their progress. Always try to plan my lessons as interactive and enjoyable as I can. I can’t wait to meet new students to guide and support them through their learning journey.

In 2019 I lived and taught in China which challenged me to become a better teacher for all my students.

I have just completed my MSc in Big Data and Financial Analysis, having received a distinction. Before this I studied Human Geography at Swansea University, and became the treasurer for the society! I chose both these courses as I like to know why the world functions as it does, and what better way to understand this than the political, economic and social geographies; as well as the business/finance world! In my spare time I enjoy running, football and rugby; I also love to ski! Hello! I'm Catherine. My favourite book as a child was 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,' and I've been in love with the written word ever since. With my degree in English Literature and Creative Writing under my belt, I now use my writing skills to run a successful copywriting and marketing business, but I also spend a lot of time training my clients and running evening classes for local women in business. I found that teaching and helping others brought me a lot of joy and fulfillment, which is why I decided to become a GoStudent Tutor. I take a supportive, friendly and encouraging approach when it comes to teaching, and enjoy thinking outside the box when required to keep lessons fun and engaging. When I'm not working or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my partner and 7-year-old stepson, walking my dog in the countryside, reading, and crafting.

As you might have guessed, I’m passionate about animals—I have three dogs at home who I absolutely adore! One of my proudest achievements is earning my black belt in karate in 2020, a milestone I reached alongside some of my closest friends. It was a memorable and rewarding experience for all of us. I’ve also climbed the UK’s Three Peaks before turning 18, which was both physically and mentally challenging, but incredibly fulfilling. Having completed most of my A-levels through online learning during lockdown, I understand firsthand the challenges students face in remote education. This experience fuels my motivation to support students in reaching their full potential. I believe that building confidence and unlocking learning potential are key to lifelong success. I have worked with students facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, dyslexia, ADHD, and extreme shyness. I’m especially proud of the progress many of them have made—growing in confidence and communication, not just in school, but in their personal lives too. Seeing students thrive and express themselves freely is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do, and I’m committed to helping others take those same positive steps toward a brighter future. I have a range of GCSE qualifications, as well as A-Levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. I completed an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) in Toxoplasmosis within sheep herds. I have also completed four online courses, they are in Animal behaviour and welfare, Ecology and ecosystems, Edivet: basics of veterinary Surgery, Canine communication. I am currently studying at the University of Chester doing a Bachelors of Science degree in Bioveterinary Science.

I am able to tutor History at GCSE, and A-Level I am also an experienced A-level Government and Politics on the Edexcel exam board. I have experience with tutoring AQA for History A-level and both AQA and Edexcel at GCSE level for History. I also have experience working with students surrounding academic and exam stress and anxiety, I have also done extensive public speaking coaching for both competitions and increasing confidence. In my spare time, I'm a massive theatre fan and I love going to see musicals and theatre shows with my friends I also love taking time to explore my university city and getting to know a different part of the country. I am a fully qualified History Teacher after completing my Secondary History Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Sheffield Hallam University two years ago. I have gained a 2:1 BA honours degree in Politics and International Relations from Newcastle University, and I am currently studying for my Masters Degree in History at Hull University. I have also done extensive coaching for supporting students thoguh public speaking and debate competitions, alongside this, I have training in how to deal with exam and academic anxiety, I am also a trauma-informed practitioner and trained in the specific needs of students with SEND needs and complex educational needs.
