Levels and Subjects I teach Lower Level: All Sciences, Maths and English GCSE: Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English A-level: Biology, Chemistry and Maths Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, 11+, private school entry exams Languages: English fluent French and Arabic at GCSE level SEND (special needs) Experience: Dyslexia, Physical health issues, Anxiety Preferred student age group: Primary and GCSE About me: Hi there! My name is Hafsa and I am a Dental student at the University of Manchester. My friends describe me as hardworking, dedicated and focussed. Science and Maths has a huge importance in my life, a lot of it to do with my degree but also because of an interest I have in me. Having attained AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Maths in A-Levels, and A*A* and a 9 in GCSE, I have developed from an outstanding student to an incredible tutor. In high school my English teachers always applauded my excellent english analytical skills as I acheived an 8 in GCSE, and I am looking forward to sharing these tips with students of my own. From my own journey, there has been many instances where I have taught myself content because the way the teacher taught me I just didnt understand. This made me an independent learner and encouraged me to reach my highest potential - not to meantion all the amazing tips and tricks I discovered and am excited to pass on to my students too. I have a vast experience of teaching, from volunteering experiences to jobs in different settings with tutoring - which helped me fine tune my teaching skills and made me really adaptable to different teaching styles. As a young tutor, the age gap between me and my students will be relatively small and will allow me to understand them much better, as well as make the lessons more fun and engaging as I know how to meet their needs. I am an encouraging, patient, and highly experienced GCSE and A-Level Chemistry tutor, with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping students build confidence and succeed. I hold a PhD in Bioengineering and Materials Science from Imperial College London, and I have also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford. My academic training began with a Master’s degree in Chemistry with Biomedicine from King’s College London, where I was recognised as the Most Outstanding Graduate. This journey has given me a deep and thorough understanding of chemistry, as well as the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and simply. Alongside my studies and research career, teaching has always been a core part of what I do. I have delivered university tutorials, supported undergraduate and Master’s students, organised revision sessions, and mentored students at different stages of their education. I also have several years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Chemistry, both one-to-one and in small groups. My teaching style is calm, structured, and supportive. I believe every student can do well with the right guidance and approach. I focus on building strong foundations first — making sure key concepts truly make sense — before gradually moving on to more challenging topics and exam-style questions. This helps students feel confident, reduce anxiety around exams, and develop strong problem-solving skills. I am particularly experienced at identifying where students are getting stuck and adapting my explanations to suit different learning styles. Whether a student needs help catching up, strengthening their understanding, or pushing for top grades, I tailor each lesson to their individual needs and goals. Above all, I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving steadily. My goal is not just to help students achieve better grades, but to help them feel confident in their abilities and develop skills they can carry forward beyond their exams. I have a strong academic foundation in chemistry and related sciences, combined with extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and one-to-one tutoring across multiple educational levels. I completed a PhD in Bioengineering and Materials Science at Imperial College London, where I developed advanced analytical skills and a deep understanding of chemistry, materials science, and applied biology. My doctoral training strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, logically, and step-by-step — an approach that translates directly into effective teaching. Prior to this, I obtained a Master’s degree in Chemistry with Biomedicine from King’s College London, where I was awarded Most Outstanding Graduate in recognition of academic excellence. Throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I was actively involved in teaching and student support. I organised and delivered revision sessions, led tutorials for undergraduate and Master’s students, and regularly supported peers with exam preparation and problem-solving. These experiences gave me a strong understanding of common misconceptions students face in chemistry and how to address them effectively. Following my PhD, I held postdoctoral research positions at both Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. In these roles, I supervised and mentored students, contributed to teaching activities, and continued to refine my ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and accessibly to learners with different backgrounds and abilities. In parallel with my academic career, I have several years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Chemistry, as well as supporting undergraduate (BSc) students. I have worked with students of varying abilities, from those needing to rebuild confidence in the subject to those aiming for top grades. My teaching approach is structured and adaptable, focusing on building strong foundations before progressing to more complex topics and exam-style questions. Overall, my educational background and teaching experience allow me to combine subject expertise with a supportive, student-centred approach. I am confident in tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and helping students develop both understanding and confidence in chemistry.
