Prior to starting university, I worked for two years as a laboratory intern in one of the world-leading virology laboratories at the University of St Andrews, focussing on novel vaccines and antiviral treatments. I am bilingual (English and Russian), and also fluent in Japanese. I am a qualified Japanese-English translator and have worked as an online translator for many years. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and had been a first-team captain of both the UCL medical women's team and the London inter-university teams. I am currently training to become an English teacher, having gained extensive experience working with pupils with a wide range of needs—including SEN, EAL, and behavioural challenges—through previous roles as a tutor and SEN Teaching Assistant. I believe that every student has the right to a high-challenge education, regardless of their current attainment and specific learning needs. Reading and analysing literature helps us understand how stories capture the beauty and pain of human experience, a skill which every child should have the opportunity to develop. I was awarded a Distinction from University College London, where I completed a Master’s in Comparative Literature with a focus on Modernism and the Philosophy of Language. I was born in Norwich, England and completed my schooling in South Africa. I have a passion for teaching and I believe that we are capable of learning so much more when we are enjoying ourselves. I'm a volunteering addict, occasionally a pet sitter, and the founder of an organization which aims to drive social change in Romania. I'm in my first year at UCL studying German, I successfully passed the Goethe Zertifikat C1 exam in German in 2020, and I also won the first place at the National Modern German Olympiad in Romania. My experience also includes being part of a non-profit organisation from Romania as an English-German and Romanian-German translator for a magazine.

Hello! I'm a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Birmingham with a passion for learning and helping others. When I'm not immersed in my studies, I enjoy dancing and playing badminton to stay active and refreshed.
