I have completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Currently, I am studying as a postgraduate in PGCE Secondary Mathematics to become a fully qualified maths teacher at the end of this academic year. I am an engineering university student with a diverse educational background from different countries. Owing to my diverse experience, I am able to teach using varied curricula, adopt different systems, and incorporate appropriate approaches to meet the needs of the students. I am still a student, so I have first-hand experience with what students require from a student's perspective. Although I have around 3 years of experience working as a part-time tutor, both online and physical,  I have been tutoring as a volunteer for about 8 years now.  I have worked with students from different parts of the world of all levels and ages. Aside from teaching as a career, I am passionate about it because I aspire that "learning should be fun." I teach because I love it, because I enjoy it, and because I want to help the student improve in the most amusing way possible. I began my lower-level studies in Tanzania (my home country), where I picked up the British educational system. I love stories and music. This is why I did an English and Music degree, which I really enjoyed. Reading and writing are such essential and valuable skills, so this, along with my love of stories is why I teach English. I think the Harry Potter books are fantastic. My favourite Shakespeare play is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as I love the magic of the forest and the fun of the character Puck. I have also studied Ancient Greek. This proved to be a fascinating language; I found it interesting to learn where so many modern words stem from. I used to run my own drama groups; I believe in the importance of self expression and the confidence that this can bring to people. I have been a tour guide, which was great fun. It was an excellent opportunity to see many interesting sites, whilst meeting many wonderful people. I have worked with a wide range of students over the years and believe in the potential of every individual. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano. I try to write songs with my partner, who is a much better musician than me. It usually ends up with me writing the lyrics and him writing the music!
