I am a friendly, patient and determined tutor. I recently finished my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. I believe that this experience puts me in a great position to share my knowledge to help other students because I know what is needed in order to excel in these subjects. I always like to focus on what you as a student need help with to ensure that you get the most out of every lesson, and spend as much time making progress as possible I would describe myself as methodical and systematic and I think my teaching style reflects this. First, I like to ensure that there is an understanding of the key principles of the topic. Then I like to break questions down and look at the key steps in the method for that question type. I think that repetition is extremely important and the key to mastering a particular topic is encountering as many different variations of questions as possible. So this is what I will encourage. I have previous experience teaching other students from my school A-level maths concepts which they struggled with. While preparing for A-levels I created some resources that enabled me to achieve 4 A*s in the subjects above and have helped other students. I would be happy to share these and other strategies I used in preparation for exams. Outside of academics, I am a relaxed person and enjoy a wide range of sports, my favourites being football and basketball. I also enjoy reading and spending time with family. I am a second-year Natural Sciences undergraduate at Cambridge studying Neurobiology, Mathematical and Computational Biology and Chemistry. In my first year I obtained an overall 1st for Chemistry, Biology of Cells, Physiology of Organisms and Mathematical Biology. I studied at Cheltenham Ladies' College to obtain my A-Levels, then went onto study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. I have just completed my second year and achieved a 2.i overall for these modules: Mathematical + Computational Biology, Chemistry B and Neurobiology. In my first year I obtained a 1st overall for these modules: Biology of Cells, Chemistry, Physiology of Organisms and Mathematical Biology.

Hello, my name is Ellen Davies. I am in my third year studying a Physics MSc at the University of Nottingham and am currently on course for a First. I studied Maths, Physics and Biology at A level and gained AAA* respectively. I can offer tutoring up to and including A level in any of these subjects. In both my maths and physics A levels I revieved an A and in my biology A level I revieved an A*. I am currently in my 3rd year of my physics with theoretical physics MSci course at the University of Nottingham and am on track for a 1st class dagree.

Medicine is a rapidly changing field which requires an acknowledgment of life-long learning. During my studies of GCSE and A levels for chemistry and biology , my competence for scientific thinking has improved and has tied in with my ambitions and motivations to be a Doctor. This has broadened my method of approach to learning and has allowed me to use multiple ways in different situations to solidify my knowledge and understanding. This has proved extremely effective as it has enabled me to secure a place in a Russel group Medical School. One of these ways was realising that one of the best methods to test and improve my learning was to embrace teaching as a form of revision including teaching my peers various parts of the specification. This enhanced my appreciation for teaching and gave me the courage to become a tutor. Each individual is different, so in order to ensure the students I tutor can achieve their best, it is important for me to implement multiple methods of teaching as well as ways of revising. This will provide the students with a more personal way of teaching compared to something they may receive at school which may not be as tailored to their way of thinking and learning. Some methods includes mini-quizzing, simplified diagrams, question and process walkthroughs, and a balance of small visual, verbal , and audible cues which can make a huge difference to learning. Learning needs to be active and intuitive, so a variety of ways to learn is imperative. Maths and Science prevalently were my favourite subjects in school to learn as they had consistent logic which when understood was very rewarding. However despite enjoying the subjects, they can be equally as frustrating and require persistence. Appreciating the challenges and conceptual difficulties especially in Science and maths, helped developed my appreciation for different ways of effectively learning being required which helped me achieve all 8's and 9's in science and maths at GCSE and A's and A* at A level. Ultimately I believe being able to personally implement a range of methods to improve my own results will translate very well in my teachings to help students to also improve.

Hello, I'm James and I'm a college student at UCD. I'm currently studying Economics and Finance which is a heavily maths-orientated degree. Growing up, I have always loved maths and it was my favourite subject at Junior Cert and Leaving Cert level. I obtained 10 A's in my Junior Cert, including an A in maths in addition to 7 H1's at Leaving Cert. I received a H1 in maths (100%) and in Applied Maths (99%). I have been tutoring secondary school students for the better part of a year and I absolutely love it. Like most people, I have also had difficulty with Maths and I would like to use my experience to help others any difficulties they may have. Having completed secondary school in 2021, I am very familiar with all aspects of the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate syllabi. Hello, my name is Kirsty. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Manchester studying maternal and fetal health. At secondary school I always enjoyed learning about Science and Maths, so after my GCSEs I decided to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Following this, I went to the University of Manchester to study Biomedical Sciences. Here I spent three years learning about various aspects of Biology such as Anatomy, Physiology, Neuroscience and Biochemistry. From my lectures I began to grow an interest in maternal and fetal health, which I pursued by completing my master's in reproduction and pregnancy. As well as increasing my knowledge about biology I also learnt laboratory skills and how to conduct experiments. I am now doing my PhD whilst also teaching undergraduate biology students at the university. Outside of academia I also enjoy going to dance classes, hiking and baking.
