Hello! My name is Flora and I am a Master’s student at the University of Birmingham. I have great passion for English Literature and Language, as demonstrated by my achievement of A*s in both subjects and a 2:1 BA (hons.) in English Literature. I have been teaching KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature, and A-Level English Literature, for 3+ years both online and in-person. I am most experienced in teaching GCSE English Language and Literature following the AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas exam boards, and OCR for A-Level Literature. I take pride in how I always adapt my teaching style to my student’s needs, requirements and preferences. Whilst my teaching approaches vary depending on the student, I teach using a combination of visual (posters, mind maps, flashcards), and interactive (brainstorming, discussions) and textual (past papers, worksheets) techniques. A lesson may consist of supporting student with revising exam materials, practising variety of skills from reading comprehension to creative writing or equipping students with tools to help them with their writing abilities. I am happy to provide students with homework, which I can grade and provide feedback on, as well as with a variety of resources crafted by me. Students are welcome to guide their own lessons with their own materials/schoolwork since I can assist them with preparing for their assessments. I aim to make learning fun and engaging for students by incorporating their interests into their lessons whenever possible. I am very enthusiastic about helping student achieve their goals, whether this be pushing their grades up or gaining a better understanding of a component of English.
