Hi! My name is Shaanya and I am a first year medical student at UCL. I have been a dedicated tutor for 1.5 years and have a strong passion for teaching science and mathematics and helping students build confidence in these subjects. I attended Godolphin and Latymer Secondary School from years 7-13 which provided me with a strong foundation of education. Here I sat my GCSE's and scored 11 grade 9's. I also sat my A-Level's at this schools and achieved 3 A*'s and 1 A. My secondary school education provided a strong academic basis and developed my ability to support others in their learning. Throughout my studies, I consistently achieved good results and demonstrated a clear understanding of key subjects such as mathematics and science. I often assisted classmates by explaining complex topics in a clear and patient manner, helping them gain confidence and improve their understanding. This experience strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. It also confirmed my interest in tutoring and academic support. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I developed during my secondary education enabled me to be an effective, reliable, and supportive tutor. I am currently studying medicine at University College London and am in my first year. My first year of medical university education has helped me become a good tutor by strengthening both my knowledge and communication skills. Hi there, my name is George and I developed a real passion for maths a science during my gcse years having not always been the biggest fan previously to this period and have found great fulfilment in developing my skills ever since. I now study physics at the university of Bristol and would not have got here if it wasn’t for some of my excellent teaching mentors so anything I can do to replicate this is an exciting opportunity for me. Having taken my exams so recently where I found some crafty shortcuts and developed easy strategies to assure me I could do well and guarantee me correct answers to certain questions that came up over and over again in previous years exams. All of which I really feel any student can implement to reduce at least some of the stress of these tricky years. I understand the importance of hobbies outside of the school work, with me personally enjoying all sports outside of my studies, particularly football, basketball and running. My GCSE qualifications came out at eight grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and a grade 7, with grade 9’s in my chosen subjects. I have A*’s in maths, physics and chemistry A-levels, taken in the 2023 summer series, so I am very comfortable with the OCR A syllabus for physics and chemistry, and the edexcel syllabus for both A-level and gcse maths.
